Empowering Communities, Restoring Ecosystems

In a lakeside village overrun by water hyacinth, the invasive plant threatened both the wetlands and the livelihoods of the farming community. To address this, we introduced a sustainable approach where farmers hand-collect the plant, earning additional income while ensuring aquatic and reptile species, often harmed by machines like JCBs, remain safe. The carefully harvested hyacinth is then transformed into eco-friendly handmade paper, turning a destructive weed into a source of beauty and purpose. This process not only restores the wetlands but also empowers the community with meaningful, sustainable livelihoods.
